Recently our team went on a 10 mile hike to the double peak mountain in San Marcos. For some it wasn't too big a challenge, but pretty much everyone else was nearly dead by just the first half. Going uphill first was a grueling climb, especially the extra steep bit at the end. But once we reached the top everyone was happy and ate lunch. Most would think going uphill was the hard part, but it was actually the downhill. We made our way back down the steep hill (we had to go the long way because some students wouldn't listen) which was quite painful on our feet. Once we made it to ground level we still had a mile left and our legs were dying. Thankfully we got to stop and get some food at the end. I can see that doing this hike so soon was a good lesson to stay in shape and be ready because things can happen whether you are or not.
The trail to double peak.
Some ducks we saw at the base of the mountain trail.
About 1/6 up the mountain, by now some people were already getting tired
The extra steep bit just before the peak, we had to take a few breaks because we we already so tired.
At the top of the mountain, overlooking most of the city.
